In der Industrie werden immer häufiger komplexe Systeme, die mechanische, elektrische und informationstechnische Bereiche verknüpfen, entwickelt. Das Bindeglied dieser Bereiche ist die Mechatronik. Der Ingenieur besitzt umfassende Kenntnisse in allen beteiligten Fachgebieten und kann somit das Produkt von der anfänglichen Entwicklung bis zur Fertigung hindurch begleiten. Der Studiengang besteht aus einem breit gefächerten Grundlagenstudium, das dem Ingenieur den Einblick in alle technischen Bereiche bietet. Im Anschluss kann er sich weiter in den Vertiefungsrichtungen, beispielsweise mechatronische Systeme, Aktorik oder Sensorik spezialisieren.

Your fields of activity after completing the studies
Due to structural changes in many industrial companies, those with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics frequently perform tasks in the areas Development, Project Management, Flexible Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Sales at the same time. The mechatronics study course trains students for these varied requirements and the practical integrated degree program also encourages social competencies and methods expertise. Innovations in technical areas necessitate, for example, that the opportunities offered by electrical engineering and control technology are optimally used in addition to exploiting the potential provided by the mechanical design. Mechatronics is, therefore, a study course, in which there is a special interrelation between the following disciplines:
- Mechanical systems from mechanical engineering and precision engineering
- Electronic systems containing sensors, actuators, micro electronics and power electronics
- Information technology, particularly in automation engineering
Requirements
- The mechatronics study course requires a good basic knowledge of mathematics and science, creativity and the will to learn about and use new technologies, in order to find optimum solutions for technical problems through innovation.
Studienfach
In den ersten Semestern des Studiums wird Ihnen ein breites, betriebswirtschaftliches Grundwissen vermittelt. Ihre Studienfächer reichen von Marketing über Personalwesen bis hin zu Finanz- und Rechnungswesen. Nachdem Sie sich das Basiswissen angeeignet haben, haben Sie ab dem fünften Semester die Möglichkeit, zwischen verschiedenen Vertiefungsfächern zu wählen. Damit können Sie sich auf einen bestimmten Unternehmensbereich spezialisieren und Ihre Fähigkeiten schon während des Studiums gezielt ausbauen. Um sich für spätere Fach- und Führungsaufgaben in unserem Unternehmen zu qualifizieren, werden Ihre Führungs- und Fremdsprachenkompetenzen frühzeitig trainiert.
The training
As a student at the DHBW Mannheim, you regularly change between theoretical and practical training phases during three years of study. The study program starts at the DHBW Mannheim in October after an introductory course in the company.
Your fields of activity after completing the studies
You are well-qualified in theory and practice after completing your Bachelor of Arts/Industrial Business Management studies. Depending on your major field of study, you will work in departments such as HR, Database Administration, Logistics, Production Planning and Control, Organization and Audits, Controlling, and Sales as a specialist.
