Mounting Large Size Bearings

Training aim
This training course communicates more in-depth information on the mounting and dismounting of rolling bearings. Our training centre at the FAG plant in Schweinfurt has various training islands on which large size rolling bearing arrangements typical of industry can be mounted and dismounted. The key points of the content are:

  • correct and reliable preparation and implementation of mounting and dismounting
  • correct measurement of shafts, bearings and housings
  • correct selection of mounting and dismounting methods
  • correct use of measuring, mounting and dismounting tools

It is for you to decide at which islands your training should take place and which bearings (of those named below) are to be used during the training. A combination of several training islands or combination with basic training on rolling bearing technology is also possible.

Duration
according to the agreement – 1 day per training platform
(for platform 2 also 2 days possible)

Training contents

Mounting and Dismounting of Bearings

  • Proper handling of bearings
  • Setting up the work-/mounting location
  • Rolling bearing mounting and dismounting : mechanical, hydraulic, thermal method (bearings with cylindrical and tapered bore)
  • Professional assembly and disassembly with practical exercises

Course Titel

The following roller bearings are used during practice: Needle roller bearing, Cylindrical roller bearing, Four point contact bearing, Deep groove ball bearing, Spherical roller bearing,

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of housing bores, shaft seats and shaft end covers
  • Thermal, hydraulic and mechanical dismounting of bearings
  • Thermal and mechanical mounting of bearings

Task 1 - Duration ½ Day
Used bearing: Four-row tapered roller bearing F-802010-TR4-H122-BR with housing

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of cylindrical shaft and housing
  • Measurement of axial internal clearance of bearing and calculation of intermediate rings
  • Mounting of bearing into the housing
  • Mounting of bearing with housing on shaft
  • Dismounting of bearing

Task 2 - Duration ½ Day
Used bearing: Four-row cylindrical roller bearing Z-527634-ZL with housing

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of cylindrical shaft and housing bore
  • Mounting of the outer rings into the housing and assembly with rollers and cage
  • Thermical mounting of inner rings on shaft
  • Installation of the complete unit on mounted inner rings on the shaft
  • Dismounting of housing with outer rings
  • Hydraulic and/or thermal dismounting of inner rings

Used bearings: Cylindrical roller bearing NU1064-M1 and double-row tapered roller bearing 32064-X in X-arangement

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurment of cylindrical shaft and housing bore
  • Thermal and mechanical mounting of cylindrical roller bearing (shaft and housing)
  • Thermal and mechanical mounting of tapered roller bearing (shaft and housing)
  • Measurment and adjustment of axial displacement
  • Hydraulic dismounting

Course Title:
Training Platform 4 (Paper applications or similar applications)

Task1 Duration ½ day
Used bearing and housing: Spherical roller bearing 23144-BK-MB-C4-W209B with housing PD 3144

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of tapered seat and housing
  • Radial internal clearance measurement
  • Mounting of bearing in housing
  • Hydraulic mounting of bearing with housing
  • Hydraulic dismounting

Task 2 Duration ½ day
Used bearing and housing: SACR bearing 565688-K-C5-W209B with housing PD 3144

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of tapered seat and housing (optional)
  • Mounting of bearing into the housing
  • Hydraulic mounting of bearing with housing
  • Location by means of HM nut (optional)
  • Hydraulic dismounting

Task3 Duration ½ day
Used bearing and housing: Toroidal roller bearing (TORB) C3144-XL-K, Adaptersleeve H3144X-HG with Locknut, Housing SNS 3244-H-D with Labyrinth- and Taconite-Seals

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of shaft seat and housing
  • Identification of the required displacement for the determination oft the radial clearance (table)
  • Hydraulic supported mounting of bearing with housing and sealing elements
  • Hydraulic dismounting

Task 4 Duration ½ day
Used bearing: Spherical roller bearing 239/850-K-MB-C3-T52-BW

  • Theoretical preparation for mounting
  • Measurement of tapered shaft (optional)
  • Measurement the radial bearing clearance
  • Hydraulic mounting
  • Location by means of HM nut and retaining bracket
  • Location by HMZ nut (optional)
  • Hydraulic dismounting
