Spoke damper on crankshaft

The majority of combustion engines requires a torsional vibration damper to ensure good NVH and lower stresses due to eigenfrequencies of the crankshaft. Many modern engines, especially for hybridized applications, tend to have no FEAD – this is where the spoke damper comes in.

The spoke damper is an innovative concept designed to reduce torsional vibrations of the crankshaft. Since it is optimized to be positioned within the crankshaft housing, it does not require friction-based sealing. Consequently, the spoke damper helps to reduce both friction and axial space requirement.
