Consultant
I joined the team as a consultant right after graduating from university. My previous internships and student jobs within the Schaeffler Group equipped me with valuable experience. In my role, I work on exciting projects, usually focusing on one at a time. This allows me to engage deeply, develop my professional skills, tackle interesting challenges, and enhance my problem-solving abilities.
Senior Consultant
I joined Schaeffler Consulting as a Senior Consultant after many years of experience in external consulting houses. In my role, I manage complex strategy projects with multiple workstreams, and advise our Clients on several topics including Technology Roadmaps, New Business Models, and Go-to-Market Strategies.
Project Manager
I was hired as a project manager at Schaeffler Consulting because of my extensive professional and consulting experience. In my role, I lead small teams and keep track of several projects at the same time. I also provide support to our consultants as a counselor and coach.

In-house vs. external consulting: What’s the difference?
A major advantage of inhouse consulting over external consulting is that you’re always working on projects in the same organization – in this case, the Schaeffler Group. This means you can put down roots, build up a network in the Schaeffler Group and gain an in-depth knowledge of the group’s business. All of this will help you in your project work, enabling you to navigate the stakeholder landscape quickly and efficiently and develop highly targeted, sustainable solutions. What’s more, by staying on at Schaeffler after your projects are finished, you will get to see the long-term value created by your work. The way you interact with your clients is also different because the relationship is more collegial than strictly consultant-client. Also, working at Schaeffler Consulting involves less travel, as you will be working mainly at our location in Nuremberg.
What is the application process?
1. Application
Apply via the Schaeffler career page.
2. Virtual interview
Attend the first interview via phone or virtually to get to know the functional representative, see about the cultural fit and leverage expectations from both sides.
3. Interview on site
Participate in the second interview and meet some team members. During this meeting, you present key aspects of yourself and edit a case study.
4. Contract process
Receive an oral offer or a written rejection with an optional feedback conversation. Discuss next steps and, if both agree, start the draft of a contract and sign.
5. Meet your buddy
Get supported by your buddy before and during your entry phase for information and any questions you may have.
6. Onboarding
Start your entry right! Receive an individual onboarding schedule in order to get ready for your first days and future tasks.
7. Your first days
Receive your project assignment and jump on board! You will learn on the job and get support, e.g., by meeting your sparring partner, in order to get prepared for your upcoming tasks.
As we are an inhouse consultancy, the application process may differ from the standard process at Schaeffler.
How does the orientation and onboarding process work?
Even before your first day on the job, we will assign you a buddy, who will answer any questions you may have. Your buddy will also plan and coordinate your onboarding to ensure you feel at home and settle in quickly. During this orientation phase, you will learn everything you need to know about the Schaeffler Group, Schaeffler Consulting and your first project. You will pick up the necessary general and professional skills and industry knowledge on the job through mentoring from your more experienced colleagues and your buddy.
What consulting services does Schaeffler Consulting provide?
The Schaeffler Consulting GmbH provides services in the following areas:
- Strategy & Transactions develops and executes strategies for Schaeffler to achieve substantial and lasting value creation.
- Performance Improvement enhances the performance of the Schaeffler group by transforming the future business and operating models within overhead functions.
- Change Management & People Development guides, manages, and leads change management projects, focusing on leadership, team development, and individual growth.
Where will I be working?
Schaeffler Consulting is located in Nuremberg and we run most of our projects from here. You may travel for selected workshops to other Schaeffler locations on a limited basis. Many projects involve international project teams, and the majority are conducted in English.
What salary does an inhouse consultant normally earn?
At Schaeffler Consulting, we pay our consultants at competitive industry rates. The amount of your bonus depends on the level of your job and your individual performance, which we will review with you as part of ongoing performance management. Various criteria are taken into account, such as project outputs, internal professional development, and leadership responsibilities.
