Schaeffler, the Motion Technology Company, has received the supplier award in the category “Innovation” from the Nordex Group at the world’s leading trade fair, “WindEnergy” Hamburg.

Schaeffler is a preferred development partner of Nordex, supporting the company as a leading supplier of main bearings. Schaeffler’s products are used throughout the drivetrain of Nordex’s wind turbines.

Joint Development of Bearing Concepts
The joint development activities focus, among other things, on the development of more robust drivetrain solutions and bearing concepts for the next generation of wind turbines.
Nordex’s portfolio currently focuses on wind turbines in the four- to seven-megawatt power class. With these onshore turbines, the Nordex Group, headquartered in Hamburg, is one of the leading global suppliers.
The award confirms Schaeffler’s commitment to serving as a strategic development partner to the wind industry. Schaeffler’s “Closed Loop Engineering“ approach forms a closed feedback loop in which the insights gained are fed back into product development.
“We conduct extensive system simulations, tests under realistic conditions and field measurement campaigns. We use the results to continuously improve the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of our products – and therefore of the overall system,“ explained Bernd Endres, Vice President Business Unit Large Roller Bearings & Sector Wind at Schaeffler.
