Content
The most important material for rolling bearings is steel. Steel in itself must first be subjected to heat treatment in order to fulfill the required properties. Hardening is an essential heat treatment here. A minimum hardening depth, due to the stress distribution below the surface, is important.
What causes these stresses and what is their distribution? How are the hardening depths determined?
We would like to answer these questions in this training.
Learning objectives
- Stresses in the contact zone
- Stress distribution below the surface
- Main shear stress
- Required hardening depths
